Laurie was the senior partner of a property valuation business in Penrith. He resigned from Rotary in 1977 to move to North Rocks. Sadly, Laurie died from Cancer in 1985 at only 49 years of age.

During the year, the Club established the “Underprivileged Children’s Trust Fund” to assist those disadvantaged children who otherwise may not have been able to participate in certain school activities. Seven children benefited from the fund during the year.

 

The Club hosted the District Assembly at Medlow Bath.

 

The Club hosted our first Youth Exchange student, Keiko Naruse, from Japan.

 

Combining with Penrith Lions and Apex a special wheelchair was donated to a young paraplegic.

 

Funds from a Rodeo, Car Trial and Western Night aided many charities including a talking book for a blind citizen.
