John was the Bank manager of the Penrith branch of the Commercial Banking Coy of Sydney. Leaving Penrith through work he joined North Sydney and then Gosford Clubs. Returning to Emu Plains he then rejoined Penrith.

Surveys from this year led to the formation of Penrith Apex and Inner Wheel Service Clubs, John’s wife Elva being the charter President of the latter.

 

240 guests attended Rotary’s annual ball which raised funds to purchase a sewing machine, cabinet, tools and library books for Penrith High School

 

On the 13th December 1951 the meeting was abandoned because the majority of members were fighting fires in the Blue Mountains

 

Proceeds from the Christmas party provided toys for children who had lost them in the fire. These were distributed by Santa (John ) Claus on Christmas morning
