John was an optometrist and also conducted a jewellery business in High Street Penrith. He lived for Rotary and remained a member until he resigned due to ill health in 1966.

During the year the club organised a “Monster” fete in conjunction with the P & C Association to raise funds for the newly completed South Penrith Primary School.

Assistance was given to the Christmas dinner for the aged.

Donations were made to the Chilean Earthquake appeal.
